Two separate legal actions against critics, one filed by Hamsho himself
Mohammed Hamsho personally filed a defamation case against activist Abdel Hamid Al Assaf on 21 April 2025 — independently corroborated by contemporaneous Arabic-language reporting — and withdrew it on the scheduled hearing date, 5 June 2025, after media scrutiny. This is the second documented legal action against a critic from within this estate, alongside Ammar Younes's June 2026 complaint against Hassan Akkad.

Al Assaf had shared a photograph of Hamsho walking through Damascus under state security escort and called for his prosecution; Hamsho's suit alleged electronic defamation and slander.
The filing date, 2025-04-21, is corroborated by a contemporaneous Arabic-language report (North Press Agency) independent of OCCRP's English coverage of the withdrawal.
The register separately already carries Ammar Younes's June 2026 police complaint against Hassan Akkad — two separate legal actions against critics from within this estate, one by Hamsho personally.
A date conflict, flagged not resolved: OCCRP places Amr Hamsho's return to Damascus with his father in January 2025, while this register's chronology has the return in January 2026 — see the settlement event.
